Abuse

So in my last blog I touched a little bit on abuse.  I thought this entry I would expand on that.

I've been emotionally and sexually abused.  To make it clear, it wasn't by family or my husband.  They were by friends and an ex-boyfriend.  In 8th grade, I moved to a different state due to my dad's job four days before Christmas.  I was fourteen and a new Christian.  In January, I started going to a Christian school and hit it off with a guy at school.  We started school the exact same day and we had a lot in common.  I had a crush on him, but I didn't tell him.  We lived really close by to each other, we even carpooled to school together.  He was my first friend after I moved.  There were rumors he had feelings for me too.  That summer he went on a missions trip so I didn't get to spend time with him over the summer.  I actually still have a bracelet he got for me that was hand-made.  When we went back to school, he had changed.  I made a friend who started school and we seemed to hit it off too.  But when my friend came back to school after the missions trip, he started hanging out with her quite a bit.  I got jealous and suspected he had feelings for her, so I told him I had feelings for him.  After I told him though, he changed.  He started teasing me about my weight and saying really terrible things to me.  In the science classroom, there was a jar with a giant spider in it.  He knew how afraid I was of bugs, especially spiders.  He put the jar right in my face and I freaked out.  I ran to the other side of the classroom and curled up in a fetal position underneath the teacher's desk.  He just laughed at me.  Another time he caught a bee during lunch (we ate outside) and put it in a bag.  Just before class I opened my locker to get my books and I found a plastic bag in my locker.  I thought it was strange since I didn't remember putting it there.  I picked it up and there was a bee jumping around (alive) in the bag!  I was so freaked out!  I took the bag to my class and asked "Who did this?"  My friend was laughing and said he did it.  He ended up getting in trouble for it (if I remember right he got a couple weeks of detention after school for it).  I wanted to leave, but every now and then he'd reel me back in saying something really sweet to me.  I decided to stay after school with him and help him with his detention.  He too advantage of my kindness though.  He got possessive with my new friend.  Every time I'd try to hang out with her at school he'd get really mad at me.  Another time I got so upset with him being nasty towards me I actually slapped him across the face.  I couldn't take it anymore, he kept getting nastier and nastier towards me, I ended up leaving the school.

In 11th grade, I started going to a new school (I changed schools a lot growing up).  The school had just opened and on the first day we had a party.  There was this senior who was the hottest guy I had ever seen.  He was also in ROTC.  I talked to him a bit at the party trying to get to know him.  We seemed to have some things in common, when all of a sudden, he touched me in a way that I shouldn't have been touched.  Part of me liked it, but another part of me was scared.  Nothing like this had ever happened to me.  I didn't really know what to do, especially since it was out in the open around other people.  No one else noticed it.  I later found out he was gay and it scared me even more.  He had a boyfriend and I assumed they probably had sex and it scared me because I wondered, "what all has this guy touched before touching me?"  I told my gynecologist and she said it wasn't anything to physically worry about.  I asked her not to tell my parents, and she didn't.  By I eventually told my parents.  They said I had to tell the principal and I did.  All they did was say we couldn't be around each other at school.  For the most part, I avoided him, but then we had an art class together. It was jewelry design class (which by the way, is the only art class I've ever taken that I almost failed in).  We sat at the same table.  One day he brought his palm pilot to class and was playing music on it in class.  A song came on I really liked and I asked him what song it was.  He refused to tell me, so I grabbed his palm pilot (which was in the middle of the table) to look at the song and he got really pissed off.  He said, "Let go of my palm pilot!"  He grabbed my arm and started twisting it.  He pushed me off my chair and I fell on a cement floor.  After that happened, I told the principal (again) and they had me change classes.

After I graduated high school, I had an online boyfriend.  He was my "dream guy."  Everything seemed to be going really well.  He was Catholic, but he didn't like that I wanted to wait to have sex until after getting married.  He told me, "I'm going to make you no longer a nun."  I probably should've figured at that moment that I should've gotten out of the relationship, but I didn't.  He never wanted to meet me in person which was kinda suspicious too.  He started looking at porn and that really upset me.  I thought, "If he's going to look at any naked women it should be his girlfriend!"  So I did something I didn't want to do....I sent him pornographic images of myself.  It was very awkward, but I thought, "If I do this, he'll want to stay with me surely."  At first he said I looked very beautiful, which no guy had ever told me.  Then he started saying things I needed to change that I couldn't help.  But I did it anyway, no matter that I wasn't suppose to do it because of skin problems that I have.  Eventually, he broke up with me saying "You're just too depressed and I can't handle you anymore.  But we can still be friends."  It really hurt, and I asked for another chance, but this had already been my second chance and he didn't want to give me another chance.  So I tried to just be friends with him.  Then he started saying really mean stuff to me, but I tried to just take it.  Then I found out he liked one of my friends, and she liked him too.  I wanted them to be happy, even though it hurt me, so I hooked them up.  He continued to get worse with me and I told his girlfriend she needed to talk to him to cut it out.  She said, "I'm his girlfriend I'm supposed to just agree with him."  I told her, "If he was treating you this way when I was going out with him, I would've said something to him." He then messaged me saying he wanted nothing to do with me anymore.  I was so devastated that I tried to take my life.  I had a massive overdose and I called him and told him - he hung up on me.  This was my first suicide attempt.  I later found out I had just been a guinea pig to him and he wanted to test to see how far he could go with me.  He even started spreading lies about me like I had cut myself and sent him pictures of my cuts.  Shortly after my husband and I got married, he contacted me again.  He said he wanted to try to be friends again (this was a year after my suicide attempt).  I was still upset with him, but I wanted to be forgiving as well.  I asked my husband if it was okay with him if I talked to my ex and he said it was fine as long as he didn't hurt me again.  I started talking to him again, but then old feelings started coming back.  I told him I couldn't talk to him anymore because of old feelings and he attacked my husband saying he was jealous I was talking to him.  I cut it off after that.

The most recent abuse I went through was a year ago.  I had a bit of a rocky relationship with my dad (which is much better now) and I wanted someone who could be like a father to me.  I realized I started seeing one of my husband's good friend like a father.  So I told him and I said he didn't need to say anything because I figured he didn't see me like a daughter.  He said I worried too much.  He said he was okay with being a father-figure in my life.  The first month was really good, he even gave a bass guitar and was teaching me how to play it!  But then things started going bad.  He kept saying hurtful things, but each time he'd start reeling me back in.  I started working for him for free, but the same thing kept happening.  Eventually I started cutting because I was so hurt.  Then he didn't want to talk to me anymore.  I ended up having a second massive overdose trying to kill myself, and once again I had failed.  While I was in the hospital, he had asked someone from his church to see if I was okay (my father-in-law had told him what happened).  I started thinking, "Maybe he does still care about me."  I texted him and told him I had hoped we could start over.  He said maybe and that I just needed to focus on getting better.  While at the hospital, I started to realize how much people cared about me, and how much God cared about me.  Suddenly I was no longer depressed!  I started patching things up with this guy, but then he called me an idiot.  I was so depressed again, I almost cut myself again.  I realized he had too much power over my life, so I told him I couldn't talk to him for a while until he no longer had power over me.  A few months went by and then he blocked me on Facebook.  I started cutting more and more.  At one point he unblocked me, and I ha high hopes again, but then he blocked me again and told a friend "I accidentally unblocked her."  Before we moved in February, my husband tried to make things right with this guy so when we moved they could be on good terms.  But no, that didn't happen.  He kept accusing me of things and saying hurtful things.  Even his wife started doing the same thing, even to the point of accusing me of trying to make the relationship sexual.  I kept cutting, to the point where I was doing it three times a week.  My husband was so furious he blocked them both on Facebook and hasn't talked to them again since.

I know this i a long post, but I tried to not include everything because it would be much longer and unnecessary.  The thing about abuse, whether it's emotional, sexual, or physical, it is difficult to get out of.  There's a part of you that wants to get out, but there's another part of you that thinks things will change if you just hold on a little longer.  But things won't get better.  They will continue to get worse until it gets to the point where they either kill you or you end up killing yourself.  If you are in an abusive relationship, get out as soon as possible!  If you have children, get them out too because there's a good chance that they could become abused as well.  You are worth more than having to go through this!

A New Day

My husband and I have been attending AWA (Anime Weekend Atlanta) this weekend and it's been a blast!  This has been my husband's first anime convention and I think he's been enjoying it.  I love going because for a couple days a year, I am "normal."  I'm not seen as odd, my disabilities aren't really seen (I guess you can't really see them since they're mental disabilities).  I'm not seen as "different."  I'm around people I can be completely myself.  It's a world that accepts me when no one else does.  I almost didn't go this weekend though.....

This week I've been really struggling...even to the point of contemplating suicide.  I realized my dreams can't be achieved. I'm really struggling with losing weight and feel it's nearly impossible to do so.  A friend and my husband both said my relationship with God is shallow.  I feel like there's really no reason for me to go on anymore.  What's the point when I may die by the time I reach 30 because I'm literally eating myself to death?  I feel useless.  My brain injury causes a lot of problems for me, including the fact that I hallucinate 2-3 times a week (with medication), have paranoia, can't remember things, can't have a job, can't drive, I used to hear voices though the medication has helped a lot with silencing those voices, and nearly every night I have disturbing nightmares (though I suppose that's a bit redundant to say "disturbing nightmares").  I'm constantly fighting my addictions - eating and self-harm.  I battle with severe depression and PTSD.  So many days I'll lock myself into the bedroom and just lay in bed almost in tears because my struggles feel so unbearable.  I lock myself in the bedroom so I'm not near anything that I can hurt myself with (if someone really wants to hurt themselves, they'll find a way no matter what safety precautions have been placed).

Yesterday, my husband and I got to meet my favorite voice actor at AWA and got our picture taken with him.  We've talked to him a little bit through e-mail and he actually remembered us!  He gave us a free cd of him reading the Book of John (it's two discs, I do believe you can hear a free mp3 of it on his website).  My husband and I listened to it on the way home last night (we're about an hour away from the convention if you include traffic, remember, it's ATLANTA traffic!!).  It gripped both of us.  I felt as if God was telling me in my heart, "This is for you."  Hearing him do different voices for different people (or characters) and reading it brought it to a level that was different from just reading the Bible.  He brought it to life.  Then today we went to a panel he was doing called "Face to Face with Vic Mignogna."  Someone asked him, "What is your life motto?"  He thought about it for a bit and said, "Tomorrow is a new day.  No matter how bad today is, tomorrow is a new day."  I almost felt like he was saying that to me!  Tomorrow is a new day.  I may fail today, but tomorrow is a new day.  Even if I don't feel like there's a reason for me to live anymore today, tomorrow's a new day.  I may feel useless today, but tomorrow is a new day.  I have to keep living because as bad as today might be, tomorrow is a new day.  Things can change.

Today I got in line to see him again.  Instead of getting my picture taken with him (I did that yesterday), I wanted to get an autograph from him.  I got up there and he said, "You're back!  Come for more?"  I said, "This time I've got money for an autograph!"  Just before he was about to sign the picture, I thanked him for the cd and for his talk this morning.  I told him how I've been struggling and he brought some light in me and he thanked me for that and said, "I hope to see you again next year!"  Hopefully I can afford to go back next year, but as for being around (alive) by then, I'm hoping I will be too.  I told him because of his help, I'll be able to give my therapist a good report on Monday.

Whatever you may be struggling with, know this:  YOU are WORTH it!  Jesus didn't die so you can punish yourself, He took that for you!  No matter how bad today is, tomorrow is a new day!  I've been sexually abused and emotionally abused in the past (not by family).  I still carry that abuse with me and it affects my relationships I have today.  But the abuse was in the past.  I don't need to carry that with me.  I also know the warning signs now before it happens again with anyone else.  If you are in an abusive relationship with ANYONE, LEAVE IMMEDIATELY!!!!  Believe me, it's not worth staying in it.  No matter how much you tell yourself "They'll change" or "Things will be different if I change" or "Things will eventually get better," it won't.  It'll get worse the longer you're in that relationship and they'll take advantage of you because they know you won't leave them.  It can get so bad where they may actually eventually kill you!  Get out of that relationship as soon as possible, I can't stress that enough.  If you self-harm or are suicidal, I know the struggle.  It's always with you, even if you're super happy!  But don't punish yourself anymore.  Like I said, Jesus took the punishment for you already not so you could punish yourself even more!  Hang in there, tomorrow is a new day!  You are a warrior, and as warriors and survivors we won't go down without a fight!  When you feel like you can't fight anymore, lean on those who care about you, they will help you with your battles.  We are not alone!  We are part of an army!  Let's fight together!

Invincible

Growing up I got bullied a lot.  When I'd get bullied I thought, "Some day, I'll stand up for those who can't defend themselves!"  Now that I'm older, I've tried to defend the things I believe in, whether it's defending the unborn from abortionists, or even cops with what's going on.  I've lost so many friends, including one of my best friends to the god of politics and political correctness though.  It's gotten to the point where people have finally shut me up.  I don't post anything anymore except for pet videos and Pokemon.  I feel like I've failed doing what I wanted to do growing up.  I'm so weak that I'd rather keep my friends than defend what's right.

All night last night I had nightmares.  I kept having to wake up my husband because of my nightmares.  One of the dreams in particular though, I think was the enemy trying to shut me up on the most important topic to me.  Could I be wrong?  Sure.  Maybe it was "just a dream."  But with what's been going on in my life lately, I think it wasn't just a dream.

When it comes to the topic of religion, I don't talk about it very much (other than in my blog) because I'm the type that doesn't want to "push" my beliefs on another person.  It will just turn them off and piss them off.  I try to let them bring up the topic usually.  Even though I don't talk about it very much, it's still a very important topic to me.  I'm not into debating.  Yes, my dad is a debater and my husband is a debater, but I'm not.  I don't have thick skin.  But it's still a very important topic to me and I take it very seriously.

Let me tell you this though, I may have been shut upped on the majority of my beliefs, but there is one that I will not shut up on: the Gospel.  If I lose friends over the Gospel, while it hurts, I won't shut up over something that has saved me many times.  I'm still alive today BECAUSE of the Gospel.  I've had three suicide attempts and survived each of them because I can't choose when it's my time to go, that's the Author of my story's decision.  Are there times I still want to escape the world?  Yes.  I won't lie, there are times I seriously consider making attempts again.  But I know I'll only hurt myself more doing that because whether I want to die or not, it's not my decision whether I live or die.

I have an addictive personality, which means I go from one addiction to another.  As a teenager I struggled with pornography.  But when I became a Christian at 14, I decided to kill that addiction.  But then I moved on to two other addictions:  eating and cutting.  I've gone nearly 8 months without cutting so far, though it's still a struggle.  As for eating, I've been trying to chew gum more so I feel like I'm eating, when in actuality I'm not.

I have many struggles, I'm not perfect.  After my first suicide attempt I got a brain injury that causes me memory problems and hallucinations.  After my second attempt, the doctor told me later on in life I could have kidney problems.  My third attempt, my husband caught me before much damage had been done.  I have many internal struggles.  I won't list all my struggles because it would take forever to go through this blog.  There wouldn't be enough room to list all my struggles.  My struggles can often be crippling for me.  I shut myself in my room by myself and either weep or try to fight the darkness inside me.  Sometimes I have to ask for help because sometimes I can't fight the darkness by myself.

I'm very timid and frail.  I can only take so much rejection until I get to the point where I just can't deal with it anymore, so I end up shutting up.  I'm constantly seeking approval (yes, I know that's a problem).  I'm tired of it though, it's exhausting.  I can't please everyone no matter how hard I try.  What pleases some will offend others.  So let me make this clear:  You can shut me up with politics and political correctness, but when it comes to God's grace, I refuse to shut up.  Will I force it on you?  No.  But if you try to take away the thing that has kept me alive, I will not go down easily.  I will not curl up in the fetus position and give up.  I WILL fight for it.  So go ahead, do whatever you want to me, try to shut me up, but you won't win.  See, I'm not alone, even if I feel like I am sometimes.  Someone much stronger than you is on my side and will come to my rescue.  You try to cripple me?  He will carry me.  He walks with me.  He defends me from forces who try to destroy me.  You will NOT destroy me.  I may be weak, but in my weakness He is made strong.  He IS my strength.  So go ahead, give me your best shot, because by His grace I will not die.  You can't kill me. Well, technically you could physically kill me, but spiritually you will never kill me.  Go ahead and call me all sorts of untruthful things.  Call me a bigot.  Call me a racist.  Call me sexist.  Call me an idiot.  Call me whatever you want.  But I know those things aren't true.  God knows I'm not those things and I'm going to see myself the way He sees me.  He knows I'm not perfect, but some day, I will be made perfect by His grace.  Go ahead, make me bleed, but I will keep getting back up.  I'm not going to give up.  I'm going to be bold.  I'm going to be invincible.

Bud

A few weeks ago my friend Bud passed away.  He had been battling cancer for over a year (though I'm not sure what kind of cancer it was).  I hadn't realized just how sick he was honestly.  It came as a shock to me when I found out he had died the day after his birthday.  When we went to Knoxville for a couple weeks, I had hoped to visit Bud's grave since I couldn't make it to the funeral, but he'd been cremated so I didn't get a chance to say goodbye to him.

Bud was always pretty cheerful.  He played the keyboard and organ at church.  After he was diagnosed with cancer though, he wasn't really able to play anymore.  I was kinda in the church band too when he joined.  I got to sing one time at church and he was playing the keyboard then.  I would call him "Buddy."  When he started going through chemo he couldn't always make it to practice so we'd call him when we'd start the Bible Study portion and include him in it.  I always missed seeing him at church and was really happy to see him when he'd come.

Bud, despite your struggles, you were always really positive and I really admired that about you.  Thanks for being my friend, you are very much missed.  I'm sorry I didn't get to be there for you when you were really sick.  I wasn't able to say goodbye to you, but I know some day we'll get to say hello to each other again.

Thy Will

I was going to write about my friend Bud who died a couple weeks ago but I'm going to do that tomorrow.  Today was Steve's funeral, he died last week.  One of the songs at the funeral was "Thy Will" by Hilary Scott.  I decided while it's fresh in my mind I'd go ahead and write about it tonight.

I'm so confused
I know I heard you loud and clear
So, I followed through
Somehow I ended up here
I don't wanna think
I may never understand
That my broken heart is a part of your plan
When I try to pray
All I've got is hurt and these four words
Thy will be done
Thy will be done
Thy will be done

I know you're good
But this don't feel good right now
And I know you think
Of things I could never think about
It's hard to count it all joy
Distracted by the noise
Just trying to make sense
Of all your promises
Sometimes I gotta stop
Remember that you're God
And I am not
So
Thy will be done
Thy will be done
Thy will be done
Like a child on my knees all that comes to me is
Thy will be done
Thy will be done
Thy will
I know you see me
I know you hear me, Lord
Your plans are for me
Goodness you have in store
I know you hear me
I know you see me, Lord
Your plans are for me
Good news you have in store
So, thy will be done
Thy will be done
Thy will be done
Like a child on my knees all that comes to me is
Thy will be done
Thy will be done
Thy will be done
I know you see me
I know you hear me, Lord

This has been a very difficult few weeks for me.  Last year was very difficult and in February my husband and I had to move.  Part of the reason we had to move was to get away from some people who were making our lives miserable.  Since we've moved I've been trying to heal.

I don't always understand why I've had to go through the things I've gone through (I'm not claiming what I've been through is worse than anyone else).  Most of the time I'm left in the dark wondering why I am or did go through something difficult.  My heart is very fragile and breaks very easily.  I get hurt very easily.

I know God is good, but in the hardest moments it can be difficult to remember that.  I think of my friend Mickey - Steve's wife, and I ask "God, why are you making her go through such a devastating loss?  I know you're good, and everything we go through is a part of your plan in making us grow closer to you.  But why must you make people suffer so much?"

When we go through tribulations, that's when we need to just throw our hands up and say, "God, your will be done.  Not my will, but your will be done."  He understands our pain and suffering.  Sometimes he relieves us from it, sometimes it's not until we meet with him.  Steve is no longer suffering from cancer now that he's with Christ, but those of us he leaves behind, especially his wife and mother, there is a hole in our hearts from the loss.  Somehow, this will all be used for good.

Steve

In the last couple weeks I've had two friends die from cancer.  I will be writing a dedication blog post for both of them - separately.  For this entry I'll be focusing on Steve.

Whenever I thought of strength, the person that came to mind was Steve.  He was in great health and he was tough!  He was a martial arts expert and biker - he even used to be a bouncer at a biker bar!  He loved knives and the weirdest thing was under all that tough exterior, he had a kitten addiction.  He and his wife Mickey had a ton of cats and a few birds.  He had a remarkable story.

My husband and I met Steve and Mickey at church about a couple years ago.  They really intrigued me because they seemed like opposites.  As Mickey would put it, "He's leather and I'm lace."  Mickey had this bubbly personality and Steve at first seemed kinda quiet.  When I had learned he knew martial arts, I had asked him if he could teach me some and he was happy to do so.  For a couple weeks we worked on Bagwa, but then we weren't really able to figure out how to anymore, I don't quite remember why though.

Last year while Nick and I were playing and wrestling, Nick accidentally pushed me into the wall, he learned his lesson though because he found out you can't push a fat person into a wall.  There was a big hole in the wall.  Mickey helped fix the wall and Steve would come over with her.  Mickey even taught me how to fix burgers and tacos!  I'd also go to Celebrate Recovery with Mickey.  After Steve got sick though, she wasn't coming as often - which was understandable.

Last year in the spring, I had a massive overdose (for the second time) and had to be hospitalized.  Steve and Mickey were going to visit me but by then I was already out of the hospital.  Steve and Mickey knew my struggles and constant crisis'.  My problems with being suicidal, cutting, and even understood my weight problems too.  They never judged me for all my problems.  Some people give up on me because my problems are just too complicated to understand.  But Steve and Mickey never gave up on me.

Last year, somewhere between November and December, we found out Steve had stage four esophagus cancer.  He couldn't keep things down.  It broke my heart, but I prayed that God would heal him.  Eventually it spread.  It was so hard to see him so sick.  He had a feeding tube because he couldn't keep anything down.

Nick and I moved to Atlanta in February because we had to get away from some people who were making our lives very difficult.  Last week I saw on Facebook that Steve's cancer was terminal.  I completely lost it.  I guess Nick had told Mickey and she called me that night to check on me.  I heard Steve in the background asking if I was okay.  I felt really bad.  Here I was upset asking God, "Why are you doing this to me?  I've had two friends die from cancer this year already and now a third?  I've got friends who are suicidal and cutting I'm trying to help.  One of my best friends I've been friends with since I was a little kid wants nothing to do with me anymore because of politics.  Why is this happening to me?"  But Steve was the one dying and yet he and Mickey were worried about me.  Nick and I were planning to go back to Knoxville to see Steve and Mickey on Thursday - the day after my birthday.  When Monday came around Steve had gone downhill very quickly, so Nick and I went up to Knoxville to see them.  The man who when I think of strength, was fading quickly.  He was so sickly and weak.  He was on oxygen and just skin and bone.  He was mostly out of it.  I wanted to cry, but I knew if I cried, I would have urges to hurt myself, so I buried my emotions.  I wanted to be there for Steve and Mickey, just like they've always been there for me.  If I hurt myself it would've made things worse for them.  Nick and I visited Monday night, Tuesday, and a little on Wednesday.  By Thursday night at 11:45, Steve passed away.  It's been really hard for me, but I've been trying to bury my emotions at least until I return to Atlanta next week.  I have to be strong for the people depending on me, and for Steve and Mickey.  I can't be there for them if I hurt myself.  I know they probably wouldn't want me to bury my emotions, but I can't risk hurting myself.
It was so weird.  Here a year ago Nick had thrown a surprise birthday party for me and Steve and Mickey were there helping celebrate it.  No one had any idea that Steve had a cancer.  A year later he's gone.  I felt even worse when I found out Steve had passed because that night I prayed, "God, if you're not going to heal him, just end his suffering."  Around the same time I had prayed that, he passed away.  Part of me blames myself for that.  Part of me says, "If you had left that part out maybe he'd still be here."  But when I think about it, that's pretty prideful to think that way.  God making him die because I said something?  Besides, I really wanted him to be healed not die.

Yesterday I was talking to my friend Kevin who I've known since I was a little kid (our parents are best friends) about it.  He lost his mom to cancer when he was little.  I asked him what would comfort him and he said when he was little, he would ask God to heal his mom, but when she died, she wasn't healed.  Now 20-30 years later, he thought about in the last couple weeks and realized God HAD healed her, just not in the way he had wanted God to.  Indeed, Steve has been healed now that he is with Christ.  I wanted Steve to be healed physically.  Even though he was not healed like I had wanted him to be, he is healed in heaven.  Right now this doesn't really give me comfort, but, it is the truth and honestly, I would rather be healed with Jesus than suffering here on earth.

Some day, we'll see Steve again.  I know he'll be happy to see us.  We'll certainly be happy to see him.  Thanks for being there for me Steve, you are greatly missed.

Thank You

To the men and women who are in the Armed Forces, thank you for risking your lives so we can live in a free country.  Despite people trying to kill you, you sacrifice your lives so we can live in the greatest country in the world.  Sure our country like any other country has it's issues, but it's because of you that we can live in a country where we are free to protest with our freedom of speech and pray and worship God.

To the men and women in the Police Department, thank you for risking your lives so we can sleep soundly.  You sacrifice your lives so we don't have to worry about being murdered.  You rush into danger so we can be safe.

To the men and women in the Fire Department, thank you for risking your lives so we can be safe in our homes.  You sacrifice your lives and rush into buildings and forests that are on fire so we can be safe.

I'm sorry you are all underappreciated.  No one forces you to go into danger to save people, you do it because you want to help people.  You are all the reasons we are a great country.  It doesn't matter to you what race we are, or by what name we call God, you come to our rescue.  You are all heroes.  I wish people appreciated what y'all do for us.  If I could, I would give all of you a big hug and tell you I support you and appreciate what you do for us.  People take advantage of what you do for us.  You understand that ALL LIVES MATTER no matter who it is.  The only reason you would kill someone would be to save those who are in danger.  You're on the front lines to protect us, even though it seems no one is there to protect you, not even our own government.  Yet, you don't expect people to respect you.  Jesus said, "There is no greater love, than to lay down your life for your friends."  Indeed, you willingly lay down your lives for those who even hate you.

So to all of you in the service, I thank you.  It's because of you we can live freely.  You do what you do to protect us even though no one makes you do it.  I'm sorry there are people who hate you and even want to kill you.  People unappreciate your sacrifices.  But I want you to know that I greatly appreciate your sacrifices and that you aren't alone.  I know I'm not the only one who appreciates your sacrifices.  We salute you and thank you for your sacrifices.  God bless you all.

Your Sister in Christ,

Allie

P.S:  Let's all be united as one instead of being divided.
